Essentials 1
Tuesdays/Thursdays
9:00-12:00 Grades K-8th

Our Essentials Program covers the "essentials" of education, language arts and math on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00-12:00.  In small, level based cohorts, students receive direct, individualized instruction by experienced CA credentialed teachers. With a scope and sequence that tailors to children's academic and developmental levels, each small group learning focuses intently on writing, literature, language conventions, math, and executive functioning.   Students build deep critical thinking skills, analyze a variety of texts, and explore the human experience through literature. Our goals are to model and teach how to write the top five essay types: expository, descriptive, narrative, argumentative, and literary analysis and develop global awareness through literature.  In math, students explore concepts both on and off the pages, resulting in a broadened understanding both academically and practically.  We work with each child to fill in the gaps, meet learning styles, and make math fun in order to grow confidence and passion.   Work is assigned to students to be completed on Monday and Wednesdays. Essentials 2

As a continuation to our Essentials 1 program,  Essentials 2 will encompasses a full academic year of history and science.   Student will be placed in academic leveled cohorts that follow California State standards.

Spanish
Tuesday/Thursdays

Cohorts are divided by grade level and introduce students to the Spanish language through listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar study.  The primary purpose of this course is to prepare students to communicate effectively in Spanish and to be well rounded global citizens who are of aware of cultural influences, Students will learn practical vocabulary, adjectives and articles, subject verb agreement, regular and irregular verb conjugations.

Students will explore significant historical events, figures, landmarks and cultures, through hands on projects, discussions, and literature.  From a participant's view, students will gain perspective on various points of view and will also be diving into geography and topography.  Students are encouraged to bring questions and topics to be discovered.
